Mission:
Our mission is:
"SEPARI conducts collaborative science and engineering research efforts in Chile and abroad by offering and contributing affordable access to state-of-the-art hardware and software infrastructure. We are to become a major global center for high performance scientific simulations and advanced computer visualizations. We are a source of applied engineering innovations and of regional economic development".
HPC Technology:
Computational science is now indispensable to the solution of complex problems in sectors ranging from traditional science and engineering domains to public health, and economic innovation. High performance computing (HPC) involves solutions of complex simulation models as well as storage and analysis of large amounts of experimental and observational data.
All super computing centers have in common their commitment to support users from R&D in the use of leading edge super computer technology and therefore they are focused mainly into computational science not applied science.
SEPARI is meant to be an Applied Science Center that will use HPC as its driving technology to solve scientific and engineering problems for industry application to serve not only Latin American community, but international community. Most HPC centers develop computational codes for specific problem solving and visualization, SEPARI will give for granted the existence of software so it can work over these platforms to respond to industrial needs and to create value.

The institute's primary technical goal is that of becoming a "Center of Excellence for Collaborative Innovative Research in Advanced Computer Enabled Design" over the basis of developing world class competences in "Engineering and Functional Design, Computer Aided Design, Applied Scientific Simulations, High Performance Computing and Advanced Visualization Technology". These are closely related disciplines that supporting most of the design processes of the 21st century.
Partners:
SEPARI is a partnership conformed by 2 prestigious chilean universities and 2 companies, leadership on Research & Development (R&D), and that counts on funding of FONDEF, the Regional Government of Valparaiso and the Government of Japan. SEPARI will become an advanced center of investigation, that will operate in independent form, and without profit aims, and that specialize in the value creation on the base of technological innovation.
